Come to work or to rest - you are welcome!
In 2022, Good Courage will offer two types of farmstays: workstays and retreats. Guests of the farm are accommodated in our comfortable Well House (sleeps 2) or in our vintage camper (sleeps 1) and also have use of our bath house and our summer kitchen. Both workstays and retreats include staples for a make-your-own farm-fresh breakfast; other meals are self-catered, with cooking staples provided. All guests are welcome to join daily morning prayer at 10:00 a.m.
Workstays offer guests an opportunity to join farm staff and other volunteers in fieldwork. Accommodations and staples for breakfast are provided in exchange for 4 hours of labor per overnight, per person. There are all types of useful work to do on the farm, though the most common needs are weeding, mulching and harvesting. If fieldwork isn't suitable for your body, no worries - we also have endless organizing tasks and non-strenuous work like stamping bags or stuffing envelopes.
Retreats are self-organized days of pure rest and renewal on the farm. No fieldwork is expected of our retreat guests; instead, retreatants are invited to make a suggested donation to the ministry on a sliding scale (usually $20 to $60 per night). All the ingredients for a make-your-own farm fresh breakfast are provided each morning. Enjoy the farm as you choose!
We're sorry, but the farm cannot accommodate visiting pets.
**It is Good Courage farm's privilege to offer two-night retreats to community organizers and clergy in need of a sabbath rest, with no expectation of an additional contribution to the ministry. We extend an especially warm welcome to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ leaders who have been at the front lines of our nation's social crises, advocating for justice and peace. Come rest, knowing that the work you've already done in the world is gift enough. We give thanks to the generous supporters who allow us to offer this hospitality.
